Nigel Farage, the former leader of the U.K. Independence Party, said Wednesday that Donald Trump’s anti-Muslim rhetoric “makes even me wince a little bit,” the Times reports.
“To say that you would ban all Muslims coming into America … I can see what he’s trying to do,” said Farage, who is in Cleveland for the Republican convention. “He’s trying to reach voters who feel frustrated and perhaps a little bit scared,” he said.
“Occasionally, the style of it, it makes even me wince a little bit,” he added.
In December, Trump said there should be a “total and complete shutdown” of Muslims coming to the U.S. over fears of Islamic terrorism.
