Britain’s the Sun tabloid and Germany’s Die Welt daily have traded blows over British Prime Minister Theresa May’s Tuesday Brexit speech.
Wednesday’s Die Welt front page splash featured the PM and the logo for the U.K.’s BBC comedy Little Britain. The daily posted a photo of its front page on Twitter, along with the caption: “So lonely.”
On Thursday, the Sun replied, asking:Â âWould the last country to leave EU please turn out the lights.â
The Sun’s editor-in-chief, Tony Gallagher, tweeted an image of the missive, which included a photo of German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s face in a lightbulb, signing off with “Love from Little Britain.”
Dear @welt – a snapshot of @TheSun tomorrow.
