One person has been arrested after a man died and at least ten people were injured after a van struck pedestrians in north London Monday.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed emergency services had responded to a “major incident” after 12:20 a.m. in Seven Sisters Road, Finsbury Park.
The Muslim Council of Britain said on Twitter the pedestrians who were hit were worshippers leaving a mosque and called the incident a “terror attack.”
Police said eight of those who were injured were taken to three hospitals while two people were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The suspected driver of the van, a 48-year-old man, was held by bystanders at the scene before being arrested by police.
The incident is being investigated by the Counter Terrorism Command.
The London Ambulance service confirmed “a number of resources” had been sent to respond to the incident.
The U.K. has been hit with a series of attacks in recent months. On June 3, three Islamic terrorists killed eight people after ramming a van into pedestrians on London Bridge and stabbing dozens in nearby Borough Market. Separately, a suicide bombing killed 22 people in Manchester May 22 and another attack claimed five victims and injured dozens outside the British parliament in central London on March 22.
